Lara Jade Coton, was a beginning photographer in the UK. One of the first pictures she ever took and uploaded was a picture of herself wearing a top hat while sitting between two red curtains. She entitled the photograph, “No Way Out” and posted it to several of her online accounts. In 2007, Coton got a message through the art site deviantArt (dA) that someone had recognized her image on the cover of a DVD. As Coton began to investigate the DVD on her own, she quickly learned that it was a pornographic DVD and, specifically, a re-release of the 1982 film Body Magic.  Shocked and outraged she then contacted the company and the manager Bob Burge. Burge then told Coton that he was recalling the DVD and changing the cover, after she complained and demanded it be removed. But Coton and her lawyer discovered that Burge continued to use the image and filed a lawsuit against Burge for copyright infringement, misappropriation of an image, and other violations. Burge then argued that because it was on the Internet he didn’t need permission to use it. The case went on for a couple years, with the final verdict going in favor of Coton. In 2010 she was finally awarded nearly $130,000 in damages. One more thing, Lara Jade Coton, was only 14 years of age when she took that photo and was used on the cover a pornographic DVD. I agree with the verdict, it was inappropriate of an adult film industry to use a picture of a 14 year old girl for one of their cover photos. I think it’s crazy how this court case got dragged out for over 3 year, but well deserved of Colton to be awarded nearly $130,000 in damages.

Portrait Theory Assignment: Left, Right, Front

FRONT

RIGHT

LEFT
Even though Science Daily says that the let side of the face is the more desirable side for people to take pictures, my findings show that to me I prefer the people facing to the right rather more then those facing to left. It seems to me that the right side of my models pictures captures more personality and a clearer angle of the face that is not shown on the models facing the left side.

Its easier to see the models smile when they are facing the right side, Petapixel tells us that the left side of the face is where we see more emotions, but according to my photos I have to disagree. Maybe in other photos it might be true that the left side shows more emotion, but in the ones I took  believe that that the right side is more appealing and desirable for photos.
